Days out
Cognac is about an hour away and well worth a visit around one of the famous cognac houses. For those looking for day trips La Rochelle, a beautiful seaside town offering great restaurants and shopping is highly recommended as is Bordeaux with its surrounding vineyards.
For a fun family day out try Futuroscope, a futuristic theme part located just outside Poitiers or Puy du Fou which brings in the crowds worldwide. Our nearest family day out attraction is La Vallee des Singes, if you are a monkey or gorilla fan – this is a must!
For those ‘petrol heads’ who enjoy fast cars and classic cars we are fortunate in that Le Mans is about 2.5 hours drive from us whilst The Circuit du Val de Vienne is at Le Vigeant (about a 45 minute drive), a fairly new race track offering both private track experiences as well as hosting track days throughout the summer. For the classic car enthusiasts the Circuit de Ramparts at Angouleme offers 3 days and nights of classic car races (usually held mid/end September).
We have several local hire companies who specialise in canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, which all the family can enjoy – take a picnic and enjoy your day! Two of our nearest are Feel Nature, Taizé-Aizie (about 10 minutes from Les Grands Coudrais) and Canoe Ruffec , Réjallant Ruffec, about 25 minutes away by car.
